A forum with three of the four candidates for State Representative was held in Powers Hall and on Zoom the evening of August 21. Watch the Needham Channel’s recording of the forum.

League of Women Voters State Representative Primary Candidate Forum

Meet the candidates running for the 13th Norfolk District State Representative in the September 3, 2024 State Primary. Note: Ken Reutenik is unable to attend.

Forum Format: The forum will be conducted according to League of Women Voters guidelines. After opening statements, a League Moderator will ask the candidates questions, followed by closing statements. Candidates will be available after the forum for a Meet and Greet.

Hybrid Options: Watch in person, live on Zoom or on the Needham Channel live-stream from their website or Roku app at www.needhamchannel.org/. Register to attend the live Zoom event.

Asking Questions: The Town Hall and Zoom audiences may ask questions during the forum. Questions may be emailed in advance to lwvquestion@gmail.com by August 20. Questions should be relevant to all candidates and to current issues. Questions will be screened to ensure a wide range of topics are covered.

Voting in the Primary: The Primary is September 3, 2024. Members of political parties (Republican, Democratic, Libertarian) may vote only in their own party’s primary. Unenrolled voters (often referred to as “independents”) and members of political designations or minor parties may vote in the party primary of their choice. You may change your party enrollment prior to the voter registration deadline (Aug 24). Mail-in and early voting in person will be available.
Further information on candidates and the primaries is available at www.lwv-needham.org.

The League of Women Voters is a non-partisan organization that does not endorse parties or candidates.

Note: One of the candidates participating in our forum, Bhuren Patel, is a write-in candidate in the Democratic Primary for State Representative, meaning his name will not appear and must be written in on the ballot. The League of Women Voters of Needham does not have a policy on including write-in candidates in our forums. Rather, we take each occurrence case-by-case and decide based on the circumstances. In this case, Mr. Patel announced his candidacy at the same time as the other candidates. He has registered with the MA Office of Campaign and Political Finance and is actively campaigning. As a service to voters, LWVN has decided to include him in our forum.
